BLSS 2019 videos: Inhalation devices, immunomodulators, mitochondrial medicine and biosimilars make their mark

1 November, 2019

The fifth round of presentations at BioStock Life Science Summit saw a wide range of medicinal solutions. Iconovo led with its inhalation devices, then CanImGuide presented its innovating cancer-stopping immunomodulator; NeuroVive Pharmaceutical followed showcasing its mitochondrial medicine portfolio, and Xbrane ended the session discussing how biosimilars may bring lifechanging drugs to a wider patient group. All full-length presentations can be found below.

Throughout the day, the invited companies at BioStock Life Science Summit 2019 continued to impress with its diverse line-up of Nordic biotech and medtech companies making their pitch to heavy investors. The fifth round of presentations started out with Iconovo’s CEO Orest Lastow giving a run-down of the company’s range of inhalation products and concepts for treating asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Iconovos products are ready to use inhalers and they offer their clients assistance in developing the dry powder substance to go with it.

CanImGuide’s CEO Carl-Magnus Högerkorp gave the audience more knowledge about the mechanisms of cancer and how the company’s the proprietary drug P28R has the potential to modulate cancer’s ability to suppress the immune system as it spreads throughout the body.

Then, the mitochondria got some well-deserved attention as NeuroVive Pharmaceutical’s CEO Erik Kinnman went through the company’s broad portfolio, which mainly focuses on treating mitochondrial diseases – a group of rare diseases with significant life altering implications. The company is a leader within the field of mitochondrial medicine, and one of the projects, KL1333, is in clinical development.

Biosimilars entered the fray during BLSS 2019 with Xbrane. The Swedish pharmaceutical company, based in Solna, develops, manufactures and produces biosimilars with the aim of making biological drugs more accessible to patients by bringing down costs. CEO Martin Åmark talked about their patented protein production platform as well as their world-leading expertise within biosimilar development.
