AstraZeneca invests $4,5 billion in Virginia

AstraZeneca is expanding its planned investment in a new manufacturing facility in Virginia to $4,5 billion, an increase of $500 million. The facility in Albemarle County will manufacture weight management, metabolism and cancer drugs, including oral GLP-1s and antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). The investment will create approximately 3,600 direct and indirect jobs and is part of the company’s $50 billion investment in the U.S. The facility is expected to be operational within four to five years.
