Recently reported BioStock that Lund-based PolarCool has established two new agreements to introduce PolarCap System, the company's medical device product for cooling, in the two highest ice hockey leagues in Sweden, Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and HockeyAllsvenskan. Both of these agreements are valid for 24 months, and constitute a gateway to other sports and new markets.
Agreement with a French rugby club
On Tuesday, the company announced yet another agreement, this time to establish the PolarCap system in France, specifically the French rugby league. The company has signed an agreement with one of the league's top clubs, French stadium. The club will evaluate the product for six weeks and will then hopefully sign a long-term commercial agreement.
During the initial evaluation, the PolarCap System will be introduced to other clubs in the league, which gives the company a significant opportunity to gain wider reach in the country with PolarCap. Part of the strategy to achieve this goal is to get in touch with medical personnel from teams that have entered into such agreements. In this case, PolarCool has established contact with Stade Français’ medical director, Dr. Elliot Rubio, who has had the clinical evidence behind PolarCap Systems presented to him. This has given Dr. Rubio a chance to evaluate the evidence and the scientific background of the product.

In a press release, PolarCool's CEO stated: Erik Anderson about this important step forward for the company:
»The fact that we have received a concrete request from a French rugby team to start using the PolarCap system means that we have taken an important step towards establishing ourselves in a new market. Our experience is that those who have already started using the PolarCap System see a clear benefit and want to continue with the treatment. The fact that Stade Français and their doctor, Dr Elliot Rubio, will also present the treatment to other clubs is also an important part of the agreement, which is of great value to the company.«
Stade Français medical director, Dr Elliot Rubio, also commented in a recent press release:
»I am grateful that Stade Français, as the first rugby union organization in France, can start providing the PolarCap System to our players. We welcome the PolarCap System as a new tool for the emergency treatment of concussions and are confident that it will allow us to offer improved medical care to our players. "
The marketing strategy delivers results
According to PolarCool, the agreement with Stade Français comes as a result of the company's marketing strategy, which partly consists of using representatives, such as former professional athletes, who believe in PolarCool's concept, in various potential markets.
The current agreement was signed by Jamie Baches agency, MSc Marketing, a former elite rugby player from the UK who has a wide network of contacts in European rugby. Bache is also the company's representative for rugby in the UK, where discussions are ongoing to introduce the PolarCap system. He has also worked as a Sports Marketing Account Manager for Umbro, which means he has a wide network, in addition to rugby, also within British football.
BioStock will continue to follow PolarCool and its continued efforts to establish the PolarCap system in new markets.
