BLSS 2019 video presentations: Innovation at the center during the second showcase round

BioStock Life Science Summit 2019 continued the second part of day 1 with a diverse mix of Life Science companies. BrainCool, Follicum, LIDDS and Xintela all have multiple projects in their pipelines and collectively demonstrate the breadth of Scandinavian innovation technology. Medical technology company BrainCool started the presentation round with the CEO Martin Waleij gave a passionate presentation of the company's operations and products. BrainCool focuses on preventing brain damage after a stroke, and its main product BrainCool System treats this particular patient group. But the company also operates in traumatic brain injury, migraine and oncology with products such as PolarCap, CoolHead respectively Coral.
Waleij was followed by Follicums CEO, Jan Alenfall, who provided a summary of the company's fascinating history from starting as a biotechnology company focused on hair loss to expanding its portfolio of peptides to include diabetes treatment. Both projects are progressing steadily and the hair loss candidate (FOL-005) is about to begin its second phase II study.
Monica Walter, CEO of Uppsala-based SUFFER, introduced the company's NanoZolidtechnology used to develop injectable drugs for the treatment of cancer and other diseases. As recently as September, LIDDS was able to announce positive preliminary results from its phase IIb study in prostate cancer, which Wallter explained in more detail.
Then followed Xintela as presented by the Business Development Manager Thomas AreschougXintela's pipeline projects are found in the areas of regenerative medicine and oncology, based on the company's XINMARKtechnology. The technology is used to isolate and quality-assured stem cells for the treatment of, for example, osteoarthritis. The presentation also highlighted the company's own GMP facility for the production of stem cells for future clinical studies.
